As a self-employed or independent contractor, even though you have no employees or payroll, your client asks you to provide proof of Workers’ Compensation insurance before starting a project. You may be a paper general contractor (GC) managing a project with no payroll but a high subcontractor exposure. Still, you need to be able to show that you have Workers’ Compensation insurance in place.

CCIS offers a Ghost Policy to sole proprietors and independent contractors to meet contractual obligations, land more jobs, and gain a competitive edge over contractors who cannot provide a certificate of insurance. No coverage or benefits are available, and you can’t make any claims on a Ghost policy. In addition, a Ghost policy is often less expensive than standard Workers’ Compensation insurance.

It's important to note that if you hire anyone, you must update the policy and obtain traditional Workers’ Comp insurance, which we can help you with.

Workers’ Comp Solution for Paper GCs

We also provide a Workers’ Compensation solution for general contractors managing a project with no payroll but a subcontractor exposure of over 50% and up to 100%. Our program is unique as we provide a solution for GCs with a high percentage of subcontractors on a job.
